Review: Double Apex

Phaedra Morgan is one of the best race engineers in Formula 1. She's a math prodigy with dazzling skill, cutting wit, and no patience for matters of the heart. Of course, her job would be a lot easier if she didn't keep butting heads with their team's cocky and infuriatingly hot new driver.

Cosmin Ardelean is intense and committed, but as famous for his off-track romantic exploits as his on-track wizardry. Yet his devil-may-care façade conceals a haunted past. When the pair strikes up a secret-and thrillingly forbidden-"arrangement" to improve their communication and bond of trust, the heat of their attraction turns to something more...

But no secret stays hidden for long in the racing world, and soon things are spinning out of control. With everything on the line, will they be able to strip away all their defenses and go full throttle for a chance at love?

Review: I enjoyed Double Apex, especially its Formula 1 setting. The racing world felt exciting and immersive, and it was clear the author has a real appreciation for the sport. The atmosphere, competition, and behind-the-scenes moments were easily my favorite parts of the book.

My main issue was the romance. The enemies-to-lovers dynamic had a lot of potential, but I found the transition a bit baffling. The characters seem to go from genuinely antagonistic to deeply in love with very little development in between. I kept feeling like I'd missed a few chapters where the emotional shift actually happened. A slower build with more moments of growing trust and understanding would have made the relationship much more convincing for me. Also, Phaedra is not a very likeable character, at least in the first half of the book.

That said, I still had a great time reading it. If you're looking for an F1 romance with plenty of racing vibes, this is definitely worth picking up—I just wish the central romance had been given a little more room to breathe.

I will definitely pick up book 2 in the series one of these days and post a review of that one too...

Happy readings!
