Review: The A to Z of Us

Book Review: The A to Z of Us, by Hannah Doyle, 3 stars

Alice is a self-confessed cynic when it comes to love. She’s never had a serious relationship and after supporting her best friend through a devastating break-up, she’s not about to let down her barriers anytime soon. Relationships always end badly.

Zach is a romantic. Even after his parents got divorced, he still believes in love and is eager to settle down and have a family of his own. He just hasn’t met The One yet.

After a chance meet-cute at an art gallery, Zach is immediately intrigued by Alice and realising their names bookend the alphabet suggests that their next date begin with a B. Alice agrees to one date, pretty sure they will never get to 26 dates.

Genre: historical romance

Publication date: June 2021

Mature content: yes, but nothing overly graphical

Review: I really wanted to like this book, but in the end it just couldn’t hold my attention and it took me forever to finish it,

It’s not badly written, and points to the author for being able to imagine twenty six different dates (one for each letter of the alphabet) between Alice and Zach, but the truth is that after a while the book seems to be just an endless collection of dates, and they all blend together.

Three stars for the originality, but not a book I would considering re-reading or actively recommending.

Happy readings!
