Review: Can you like a book when you don't really like any of the main characters or the way they sometimes talk to each other? Well, I guess you can. Love Story is the book that tells the story of the 70s movie with the same name and, contrary to what is usual, it's a case of film-to-book adaptation and not the other way around.
Erich Segal wrote the screenplay first and then was asked to turn it into a book. And it shows, because there are some parts of the story where you almost feel like there's text missing. Let's just say that the book is easier to read if you've already seen the movie.
Still, both the movie and the book were all-time hits and Love Story, in both formats, has practically become a classic.
There's a sequel to Love Story, called Oliver's Story (in both formats as well), but have never seen or read it, and I'm not sure I ever will. Oliver and Jenny were it, and even if their story is sad reading about Oliver moving on in life without Jenny somehow feels even harder.
Happy readings!
