Review: Great And Precious Things

Book Review: Great And Precious Things, by Rebecca Yarros, 5 stars

Six years ago, when Camden Daniels came back from war without his younger brother, no one in the small town of Alba, Colorado, would forgive him―especially his father. He left, swearing never to return.

But a desperate message from his father brings it all back. The betrayal. The pain. And the need to go home again.

But home is where the one person he still loves is waiting. Willow. The one woman he can never have, because there are secrets buried in Alba that are best left in the dark...

Great and Precious Things is a heart-wrenching forbidden romance about family, betrayal, and ultimately how far we’re willing to go on behalf of those we love and who need us most.

Genre: contemporary romance

Publication date: February 2020

Mature content: yes

Review: I absolutely loved this book. Great And Precious Things is a great romance story, but it's so much more. Both main characters are wonderful. I loved Camden because there's a heart of gold beneath all his bad-boy attitude, and because his dedication to Willow is just the sweetest thing. And I loved Willow because once she's made her mind about Camden, she doesn't budge, even when he tries to push her away.

Also, the bittersweet way Camden's father's struggles with Alzheimer is very well portrayed and makes me wish that thirty years ago, when my own father (and we all) went through the same, the disease had been easier to diagnose and there were a lot more resources available to help deal with it.

In any case, and personal feelings aside, this is one of the best books I've read by Rebecca Yarros (other than Fourth Wing and Iron Flame, because those are on a whole other level), and I very much recommend it.

Happy readings!
