Review: Reading Marry and Bright is like watching a Hallmark movie: everything is shiny and colorful, there's little depth to the characters or the plot and there's an epic happily ever after even if the path to get there isn't entirely realistic.

I had this book on my reading list since before last Christmas and, having read and loved other books by this author, I honestly expected more.

It's true that Marry and Bright is book 3 in a series and I didn't read any of the previous books, but that was not the reason I had issues with it.

I didn't like Addison. At all. She sounds like a filter-less teenager, complaining about her boss to a total stranger and then whining about not getting the promotion she expected. Also, we see her having drinks with her friends, having "meetings" with her friends during work hours, trying out dresses at work during work hours - but we rarely see her actually working other than a couple of mentions here and there about a presentation she prepared. We do hear a lot about the not-her-dog, which she carries everywhere with her, and about her designer clothes, designer bags, designer shoes, etc...

I liked Carter a bit more, but I have no idea how he falls in love with Addison in such a short period of time. Or at all.

Overall, Marry and Bright failed to meet my expectations. I may give the rest of the series a try one of these days, but this is not a book I would actively recommend.

Happy readings otherwise!
