Review: Dr. Off Limits

Book Review: Dr. Off Limits, by Louise Bay, 4 stars

I’ve sworn off men to focus on my dream job that starts on Monday. But my best friend talks me into a final night of fun—a blind date.

I only agree because the guy is going to work as a doctor in Africa.

It’s the best date of my life. Dr. Africa makes me laugh and swoon and I want to give him a thorough physical examination.

He turns into Dr. One Night Stand, and I’m not sad about it.

Monday morning, I’m enthusiastic and excited, until I bump into . . . you guessed it.

Apparently Dr. Africa got his brother to fill in on our date, and now I work at the same hospital as the guy I got naked with on Saturday.

Did I mention he’s my new boss?

I need to go right to the Emergency Room and find a cure for my crush on Dr. Off Limits.

Genre: contemporary romance

Publication date: September 2022

Mature content: yes

Review: I picked up this book on a whim, since I'd never read anything by Louise Bay before. While I love medical romances I usually end up disappointed with most of them, so I went into this one with carefully controlled expectations. And I was pleasantly surprised.

Yes, the story is slightly predictable. Yes, the sex scenes could have been toned down a bit. But overall I did like the plot and the characters, and also the insight into the British medical system and the challenges new doctors have to face when starting out their careers and all the tricky issues they need to navigate.

I definitely enjoyed reading Dr. Off Limits, and I expect I will be checking more of the author's other books soon.

Happy readings!
