Review: Cursed Saint Caper

Book Review: Cursed Saint Caper, by Jessie Kwak, 4 stars

Wanted: a cursed saint's relics. Easy money, right?

Helping a holy order find a missing sister should be a simple enough job—and Ruby owes the Aymaya Apostles everything after they took her and her brother in as children.

Simple enough, until the missing holy sister's trail takes an unexpected turn, landing Ruby and the rest of the crew in the middle of a high-society soiree—and into the crosshairs of Ruby's ex girlfriend, Kitty. Something sinister is lurking beneath the surface of whatever Kitty and the missing holy sister are caught up in, and the skills of the entire crew are soon put to the test when they go head to head with the ultimate con artist.

Their prize for winning? Well, it might just be a curse.

Review: Cursed Saint Caper is book three in the Nanshe Chronicles series and closely follows books one (Ghost Pirate Gambit) and two (Blood River Blues) - and even if each book features a different adventure, they definitely should not be read as stand alones.

Overall, I liked the plot in Cursed Saint Caper (even though the titles of these books are definitely weird). It comes with an additional point of view, which is also refreshing (the first two books only alternated between Raj and Las, in this one we also get to "see" the story through Ruby's eyes).

I found the end a bit rushed and and still didn't like Lasadi much in this book, even though she and Raj seem to be finally settling together. And, of course there's a cliffhanger at the end, which means you need to move on to book four to get the rest of the story.

Happy readings,
