Review: Love Beyond Desire

Book Review: Love Beyond Desire, by Rachel Palmer, 2 stars

Robin Hamilton's archaeological job on a Mexican hacienda promised to be an exciting venture. But she soon found herself drawn into the midst of a dark devastating turmoil.

She should never have let herself fall in love with her employer, the proud and fiery Ernesto Lopez. He fully intended to marry the highborn beauty Ynez as family tradition dictated, all in order to gain a precious jade legacy.

Robin had no choice--she must fight her hopeless love. For a future as Ernesto's mistress was no future at all ....

Genre: contemporary romance

Publication date: December 1980

Mature content: yes

Review: I kind of liked the setting and the general idea of the book. Unfortunately, the story drags on interminably with the characters going back and forth over the same issues - not to mention the fact that the Lopez brothers seem intent in swapping wives and mistresses as if it were a completely normal event. I ended up skipping a few paragraphs here and there because it was just more of the same.

Happy readings otherwise,
