Review: Thief of Hearts

Book Review: Thief of Hearts, by Tess Gerritsen, 3 stars

Reformed cat burglar Clea Rice has witnessed enough crime to put her on the straight and narrow. But little does she suspect that her search for justice will land her in the arms of a wealthy English gentleman.

As her attraction to Jordan Tavistock grows, so does the danger. Now her biggest concern isn’t whether a cat burglar and a proper gentleman can find happiness…it’s whether they’ll survive long enough to find out.

Genre: romantic suspense

Publication date: October 2018

Mature content: yes

Review: I really wanted to like this book - but unfortunately I had problems with it right from the start. I couldn't connect with either main character - Clea is too inconsistent and I kept expecting Jordan's story of being just a gentleman to somehow be a lie: I truly expected him to come out and say he had some sort of a job after all. Unfortunately, Clea's choices continued to make little sense as the book progressed, and Jordan continued to be just a rich man living off the money of his ancestors.

In general the plot did have potential, and that's the only reason for the three stars rating, but it failed to convince me.

Thief of Hearts is book two in the Tavistock Family series, but it can be perfectly read as a stand alone. I do confess I now have some curiosity about Jordan's sister's story, so I may give book one a try one of these days...

Happy readings otherwise,
