Review: The Earl's Inconvenient Houseguest

Book Review: The Earl's Inconvenient Houseguest, Virginia Heath, 4 stars

The earl she loved to hate …until she stayed in his mansion!

Sophie Gilbert has thwarted the standoffish new earl’s plans to sell his country estate and the quaint village that forms part of it. But when disaster strikes and he offers her refuge, she must reconsider everything about this vexing, determined man. After the heartbreak in her past, it’s a revelation to feel her pulse racing and her body yearning for his touch…

Genre: historical romance

Publication date: February 2022

Mature content: yes

Review: I loved The Earl's Inconvenient Houseguest, especially the first part, which is mostly a succession of scenes that will either make you smile or laugh out loud. The second part of the book is supposedly more romantic, but to be honest I found it a bit repetitive. Also, Sophie's bedroom persona did not match the idea I had of her, most especially given her past trauma.

I very much appreciated the fact that the author broached the subject of people with mental disabilities, which is something rare, especially in historical romances. Rafe's brother is a delight, and Rafe's unconditional love is probably one of the best parts of the book.
