Review: How to Woo a Wallflower

Review: How to Woo a Wallflower

He could have any deb.

Except his best friend’s sister…

Jasper, the Earl of Beaufort, hasn’t seen Lady Harriet Fitzroy since her serious riding accident. She has grown into a kind, spirited woman, whose sinful smile plays havoc with his jaded emotions! Hattie’s family disapprove of Jasper’s rakish past, but when she risks her reputation to help him, the least he can do is pull her from the wallflower chairs and out of the shadows…

Genre: historical romance

Publication date: November 2022

Mature content: yes

Review: Ever since I read the two books in the Merriwell Sisters' series I was hooked on Virginia Heath's books. How to Woo a Wallflower is just as great as the others, with two notes.

One, there's little banter between the characters. The whole book is written in a much more serious tone, even if the romance between Jasper and Hattie is just as strong. In any case, they both make great main characters, each passing on an important message in their own way.

And two, even though this is supposed to be book one in a series, the first few pages really threw me off. I had the distinct sensation I had landed in the middle of an on-going story and I was missing a few crucial details to get situated. This is mostly the reason I'm rating it with four stars instead of five.

Happy readings!
