Review: The Viscount Who Loved Me

Book Review: The Viscount Who Loved Me, by Julia Quinn, 5 stars

This time the gossip columnists have it wrong. London’s most elusive bachelor Anthony Bridgerton hasn’t just decided to marry—he’s even chosen a wife! The only obstacle is his intended’s older sister, Kate Sheffield—the most meddlesome woman ever to grace a London ballroom. The spirited schemer is driving Anthony mad with her determination to stop the betrothal, but when he closes his eyes at night, Kate’s the woman haunting his increasingly erotic dreams...

Contrary to popular belief, Kate is quite sure that reformed rakes do not make the best husbands—and Anthony Bridgerton is the most wicked rogue of them all. Kate’s determined to protect her sister—but she fears her own heart is vulnerable. And when Anthony’s lips touch hers, she’s suddenly afraid she might not be able to resist the reprehensible rake herself...

Genre: historical romance

Review: The Viscount Who Loved Me is book 2 in the Bridgerton series by Julia Quinn and is just as good as book 1 (read my review of The Duke and I here). There's no way you won't love Anthony and Kate's story.

Even though Anthony is set on marrying Kate's sister, it's absolutely clear from the beginning that Kate's the one for him. The journey as they both get to that same conclusion is very sweet - and absolutely hilarious sometimes (including a certain game of pall-mall that may be, in my opinion, just the best part of the book...).

If you love historical romance, you need to read these books for sure. They have also been adapted to the screen and you can see the stories on Netflix. Season two of the series roughly corresponds to this book 2.

Happy readings,
