Review: Any Luck at All

Book Review: Any Luck at All, by A. R. Casella and Denise Grover Swank, 4 stars

Georgie Buchanan doesn’t know the first thing about running a brewery—she doesn’t even like beer—so she’s out of her element when she and her siblings inherit their grandfather’s money pit. Her one hope for success lies with River Reeves, the handsome brewmaster who learned at her grandfather’s feet...if she can avoid falling for him.

River Reeves is having a rough week. Not only did he lose his friend and mentor, Beau Buchanan, but he’s just been betrayed by his former best friend and business partner. Still, things seem to improve when Georgie offers him his dream job—turning around Buchanan Brewery.

Great right? There’s one problem: his new boss is his dream woman, and she’s not the type to mix business and pleasure.

Genre: romantic suspense

Review: If you're looking for a fun romance novel to read this season, Any Luck at All may be a great choice, and also a great start to a new series.

I'm not rating it with five stars just because the main characters didn't feel totally consistent at times. River seems almost too perfect to be true but the reacts like a teenager when any problem arises. Georgie is a woman who set up  business from scratch, sold that business to a large corporation for five million dollars, but then falls apart when she needs to help her sister with a personal setback.

All the back and forth with the brewery's human resources policy seemed a bit exaggerated, just as the issue of Georgie and River's age difference - as if the fact that she's thirty three to his thirty would make her some sort of cradle robber.

Crazy aunt Dottie, sweet puppy Hops and the evil Jezebel are my favorite characters in Any Luck at All and thanks to the three of them, you will smile and laugh throughout the book.

Happy holidays!
