Book Review: The Flatshare, by Beth O´Leary, 4 stars

✩✩

Tiffy Moore needs a cheap flat, and fast. Leon Twomey works nights and needs cash. Their friends think they're crazy, but it's the perfect solution: Leon occupies the one-bed flat while Tiffy's at work in the day, and she has the run of the place the rest of the time.
But with obsessive ex-boyfriends, demanding clients at work, wrongly imprisoned brothers and, of course, the fact that they still haven't met yet, they're about to discover that if you want the perfect home you need to throw the rulebook out the window...

Genre: contemporary romance

Publication date: April 2019

Mature content: nothing explicit

Review: I had a lot of fun with The Flatshare. The plot is certainly original - two people that share a flat (and the same be) but have never met. To be honest, I cringed a bit when I realised Tiffy was going to sleep in the bed of a complete stranger - weird and unhygienic, but funny at the same time.

There were some important topics mentioned, such as how Tiffy overcame an abusive previous relation, but there were also some loose ends in the plot - for example. why Tiffy didn't report a coworker for something akin to harassment, or why Leon's girlfriend (always present in the first part of the book) is practically never mentioned after they break up (as she accused Leon of not having enough time for her, I would expect her to reappear once she discovered he was modelling crochet fashion...).

Overall, it's a fun, sweet romance story, with some interesting side stories and secondary characters. There are a few slow moving parts and silly moments but it's still a great book to read.

Happy readings!
