Review:  I really liked the plot of Heart's Delight. There's romance but there's also a hint of suspense because you want to know what happened to the children who in the prologue have to part with their mother forever after loosing their father too.

Michael and Maggie make a great pair, but...I cringed a bit at the easy way with which Michael got involved with Maggie while betrothed to another woman; and Maggie, for all her virtues, also seemed to succumb too easily to Michael's charms with nothing but a not very convincing promise that he would marry her afterwards. Since she knew his job was making money cheating on others, I don't understand how could she be naive enough to believe him. Of course they do get to the happy ending, but I still think that part of the book is not entirely convincing.

Also, the wording was confusing sometimes. I picked up this Heart's Delight because it was book one in a series but honestly, in some places I had the distinct impression I was missing details.

For the reasons above I'm rating Heart's Delight with four stars instead of five, but it's still a great book for historical romance lovers.

Happy readings and happy holidays,
