Review: This book did not work for me in any way. I know it's part of a series and I haven't read the previous books, but I didn't fee like that affected me in any way. What did bother me is that neither the way the characters behave nor the language seem historically accurate. Skye moves into Hawks home (alone and unchaperoned) under the pretense of needing his help, but she also wants to marry him, and on top of that ends up convincing him that she needs to say to help get the house ready for his new bride - a bride Skye does not want him to take since she wants to marry the man herself. The plot is confusing and, again, in light of the specific time and place, unrealistic.
Skye and Hawk briefly met before when she was a teenager but had no contact since. However, they have no problem in having sex mere hours after she barges into his home. Apparently, they we so attracted to each other, they just couldn't resist temptation. And that's the loop the whole book revolves around - he's looking forward to marry another woman but keeps coming back to Skye for sex. And she doesn't care one bit about her reputation or her future prospects because...no idea other that then fact that she's confident he'll marry her after all?
I read it until the end just because I never like to leave a book unfinished, but other than the fact that Skye and Hawk (unsurprisingly) do get their happy ending, nothing else makes me recommend this book.
