Daisy is a wallflower. Or at least, she was. But this season her prospects are brighter and, much to her mother's delight, she may just make a match. When the duke she once adored from a distance arrives at the house party she's attending with her friends, she knows for certain her luck has changed. Until she meets him.
Rude, grim, and not at all the knight in shining armor she believed him to be as a child, the now-widowed Duke of Dolan treats her boorishly bad. This isn't the love at first sight she'd been dreaming of. In fact, it's a whole lot like disdain. If it were not for the way he held her in his arms, she might just be fooled into thinking he's not the man for her at all. Luckily for him, his kisses speak louder than his growls.
Genre: historical romance
Publication date: March 2022
Mature content: nothing overly graphical
Review: The general plot of A Duke for Miss Daisy had good potential, even if it's not entirely original. The fact that the whole story takes place in about forty eight hours makes it completely unrealistic if you take into account that the two characters meet (even though they are old acquaintances, they haven't seen eachother in a decade), dislike eachother (despite the simmering attraction), are totally opposed to a relationship, much less marriage - and then a day later they are utterly in love and longing to be married.
I might have bought it if it were a week, and even that would be pushing it. But less than two days? I almost lost interest when I realised where the whole thing was leading and just barely managed to get to the end. That, and a host of minor editing mistakes, prevent me from recommending this book.
I read it for free via Apple Books, and while it's book one in the A Wallflower's Wish series, I'm not sure I'll try any of the other books anytime soo.
Happy readings otherwise!
