Review: Falling

You just boarded a flight to New York.

There are one hundred and forty-three other passengers onboard.

What you don’t know is that thirty minutes before the flight your pilot’s family was kidnapped.

For his family to live, everyone on your plane must die.

The only way the family will survive is if the pilot follows his orders and crashes the plane.

Enjoy the flight.

Review: I'm really on the fence about this book. The basic idea is Ok, even if not original at all, but I didn't care all that much for the style of writing (for all the author's efforts to keep suspense, there were entire paragraphs I could have skipped in order to get to the same conclusions).

Also, there are a few plot mishaps - the main one, in my opinion, being the fact that there doesn't seem to be any public message the terrorists in fact want to pass to the world. Their attack is supposed to remain a secret until the plane crashes, and although they kind of explain their motives (if there can ever be a motive to kill hundreds of people), there's never mention to any kind of public statement or claim to be made. So if the plane crashes who will know what they did and why? Maybe I just missed something, but I really didn't get that part.

Overall all is well when it ends well, but in this book the path to get there is often unrealistic and overly optimistic. In the real world there would be real panic inside that airplane and I don't believe most passengers would be as meek or as accommodating as these when face with a similar situation.

Happy readings otherwise!
