Molly arrives in Sutter’s Hollow out of gas and out of options. The rundown ranch seems like a perfect place to hide. Except the man who owns it seems just as dangerous as what’s chasing her.Cord’s mantra growing up? Get out of Sutter’s Hollow. Now he’s back in town, but only long enough to get rid of his grandma’s ball and chain—the ranch. He doesn’t need a complication like Molly, who reminds him of an injured baby bird. He’s no protector. So why can’t he tell her to get lost?

Review: I received an ARC copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. And I honestly loved it. His Small-Town Girl reminds me of the romances I used to read years ago, those that don't follow a commercial (and mostly predictable) plot formula. His Small-Town girl brings us real people with real problems. Not problems created to address a certain trend, where all the characters are made to behave in the socially accepted way, so perfect they sound fake from whatever angle you look at them.
This doesn't happen in His Small-Town Girl. Molly is down on her luck - her last boyfriend turned out to be a stalker and her family did not provide support (and mostly still doesn't throughout the book), so she needs to fend for herself. Cord, on the other hand, has done well in life, but not thanks to the grandmother who was supposed to love and educate him when his parents couldn't. As a result, he left Sutter's Hollow without looking back - he cut ties with the town, with his brother and with his old friends.
When they meet, they seem to be headed in opposite directions - Molly wants to stay, Cord wants to leave as fast as he can. Over just a little bit of common ground - the farm Cord inherited and needs to renovate to be able to sell - they both build friendship and later, love.
His Small-Town Girl is mostly a book on hope, second chances and building bridges. If you love a clean, heartwarming romance that will leave you with a smile on your face, then this book is perfect for you.
His Small-Town Girl is book one in Sutter's Hollow series and I can't wait to read the next instalments.
Happy readings!
