Review: The Wedding Date

Book Review: The Wedding Date, by Jasmine Guillory, 4 stars

✩✩

On the eve of his ex's wedding festivities, Drew Nichols is minus a plus one. Until a power outage strands him with the perfect candidate for a fake girlfriend...
Agreeing to go to a wedding with a guy she gets stuck with in an elevator is not something Alexa Monroe would normally do. But Drew's proposal proves hard to resist.
After their wedding date turns into a whole weekend of fun in San Francisco, Drew and Alexa return to their all-consuming careers - his in LA and hers in Berkeley. Too bad they can't stop thinking about each other...
It could be the long-distance dating disaster of the century - or Drew and Alexa could be just a flight away from what each of them truly wants.

Genre: contemporary romance

Publication date: January 2019

Mature content: yes

Review: The Wedding Date is mostly a funny, feel-good, heartwarming romance. Bonus points for originality of the plot.

There are a few slow moving parts in the book and at some point it becomes a bit repetitive with all the flying back and forth when Drew visits Alexa or vice-versa during the weekends. I also didn't like Drew's attitude almost at the end of the book. Although he redeemed himself shortly after, he behaved in a rather aggressive and rude way towards Alexa and I felt she should have taken a bit longer to forgive him.

But overall, The Wedding Date a good read and will account for a few well spent hours - and put a smile on your face.

Happy readings,
