FBI Crisis Negotiator Dominic Sheridan is adept at dealing with high-stake situations under treacherous conditions. But nothing prepared him for the headstrong rookie agent, Ava Kanas, who seems hell-bent on destroying her fledgling career while in pursuit of justice.
When several agents die in quick succession it becomes obvious a killer is targeting the FBI, and Dominic in particular. Together, Dominic and Ava race to find the murderer, all the while fighting a forbidden attraction that will complicate everything, especially when a predator has them in their sights.

Genre: romantic suspense

Publication date: February 2019

Mature content: yes

Review: In terms of suspense, Cold and Deadly is amazingly good. At one point I had a gut feeling about who the bag guy could be, but while I was indeed heading in the right direction, there was no way I could have guessed how things would turn out in the end (no spoilers, you have to read it).

The romantic part of the book, though, I found it a bit less convincing. It started out well, but after a while of "I can't be with her because I'm older and her superior", it kind of stalled. I never really felt that the connection between Ava and Dominic went a lot deeper than just physical attraction.

Despite my ranting above, Cold and Deadly is a gripping story, full of twists and turns and, for most of the book, pretty fast paced.

Cold and Deadly is book one in the brand new Cold Justice - Crossfire series by Toni Anderson, but this series is really a spin-off of the original Cold Justice books. If you've read at least a few of the Cold Justice series stories, you will find a lot of familiar characters in this one. And if you haven't read any of the previous books - well, you should, because they are really good too.

Happy readings,
