Review: In terms of fast paced action, suspense and sizzling romance, On the Chase is more than OK. The characters are compelling and the dialogs, especially those between Hugh and Grace, are absolutely delicious.

There were, however, a few details that made me cringe. First, there are too many bad things happening in Monroe, Colorado at the same time. On bomb was bad enough, but several? And that in addition to drug dealers, mob bosses, FBI agents turned to the dark side of the force - the list goes on and on, it's amazing how Grace and Hugh find the time to fall in love with all this happening around them.

Then, there's the whole debacle about how Grace escaped the clutches of her ex-boyfriend's uncle and how cleanly she comes off the other side. It's so easy, so fairytale-ish  that it's just hard to believe. Oh, and it really irked me that even after she realized she was in love with Hugh, she still called him "the cop" - not every endearing and somewhat rude in my opinion.

Personal rants aside (I'm just very picky with book plots), On the Chase is still a fun and gripping read. I strongly recommend you to read book one first, though (Run to Ground), because otherwise half the characters and references to past events will most likely be lost on you. Reading these books is like reading separate chapters of an on going story, so the epilogue of On the Chase is another cliffhanger. Onto book 3...
