Review: Ready to Run

Book Review: Ready to Run, by Lauren Layne, 5 stars

Jordan Carpenter thinks she’s finally found the perfect candidate for Jilted, a new dating show about runaway grooms: firefighter Luke Elliott, a known player who’s left not one but three brides at the altar. The only problem? Luke refuses to answer Jordan’s emails or return her calls. Which is how she ends up on a flight to Montana to recruit him in person. It’s not Manhattan, but at least the locals in Lucky Hollow seem friendly . . . except for Luke, who’s more intense—and way hotter—than the slick womanizer Jordan expected.
Eager to put the past behind him, Luke has zero intention of following this gorgeous, fast-talking city girl back to New York. But before he can send her packing, Jordan’s everywhere: at his favorite bar, the county fair, even his exes’ book club. Annoyingly, everyone in Lucky Hollow seems to like her—and deep down, she’s starting to grow on him too. But the more he fights her constant pestering, the more Luke finds himself wishing that Jordan would kick off her high heels and make herself comfortable in his arms.

Review: It's been a while since I had so much fun with a book. I read it in a day because I just couldn't put it down.

The plot is fairly original - yes, there is the boy meets girl moment and the happily ever after, but what happens in between has some interesting twists. There's just a hint of suspense because after the first few pages you start to wonder what really happened with Luke's three failed almost-marriages and who the jilted brides were, and information on that will be revealed slowly, some of it almost at the end of the book. And the chemistry between Jordan and Luke is perfect from the start.

I loved all the characters, from Luke and Jordan to all the small town residents, including feisty cat Luna and hyperactive dog Winston. Simon, Jordan's friend from New York, made me smile all the time, he's just too cute.

Ready to Run is a great feel-good romance and if you love the genre, you shouldn't miss it!

Ready to Run is book one in the I do, I don't series and I just can't wait for the next on to be published at the beginning of next year.

Have a wonderful weekend,
